Stupid Pound

My weight can fluctuate 1-2 lbs in any given day due to factors completely outside of my control. And some within my control. Ahem.

But when I get my heiney out of bed in the pitch blackness, trade my comfy jammies for sneakers and creep past my sleeping family for an extra hard workout, I DEMAND to lose a pound. Just one, that's all I ask.

Okay, I'd settle for holding flat.

Wait, no I wouldn't! Assuming my diet remains the same, I expect to lose a pound.

So when I stepped on the scale this morning with sweat running down my face and discovered that I gained a pound, I was pissed.

I'm still pissed.

And I miss the days when we didn't have a scale. Of course those were also the days when my weight began with a 2 so I don't miss them too much.

Whatever. Stupid pound.

Sista - here's what I've found - not to take away from your pissed-ness...the scale seems to reflect what you did or didn't do like 2 weeks ago. That's what we've discovered over here...in late 30's age land. Gone are the days that you can lose a pound in a day because you ate well or worked out hard. Think back to what you did or didn't do 2 weeks ago - doesn't that suck!?!?

Hang in there...if you're good for the next 2 weeks you'll see the change on the scale then. :-)

You know the opposite is true, too. If you pig out one day, it doesn't show up on the scale the next day, so Traci is probably right--it shows up 2 weeks later. I've never had the fortitude to keep weighing myself that long after! So good job for keeping up the weigh-ins. The toughest job is maintaining weight loss!!! --Mom

Well Lori, MUSCLE weighs more than fat. SOOOOOO...... I am POSITIVE that's the extra pound. Well, I am. LOL!!! Seriously though, you can't always count on the scale. How do you feel? Like a MUSCLE bound hot mama? That's what I thought!!!!!!
love you,

If you're at a gym, hit the sauna before you get on the scale.

I feel your pain, though. It sucks to workout like a bandit and see the number go up.

Just wanted to drop a note and ask that you still keep prayers for Claire Miller in Sacramento. She will undergo a big MRI on November 17th. This MRI will mark 90 days from her las pictures (the longest stretch in her fight). Continued strength to all the familes who are fighting the horrid disease, and to those who have experienced loss.
