We're Having A Baby

We've decided to adopt again! I'm so excited it makes my heart skip a beat everytime I think about it. We still miss Lillian every minute of every day and I don't see that ever changing. But if there is one thing we have learned, it is not to waste a minute. So, we're having a baby!

You may be wondering why we don't try fertility treatments. Or what is involved with adoption. Or when this bundle of joy will be ours. Well, we'd like to answer all those questions and more through this blog. Our hope is that through this journal, you would share our joy, pray with us and learn a little about this road to parenthood.

I'm so happy for you! And I'm happy to hear that you'll be sharing the process with all of us on your blog. Since you've been so open on your other blog, I hope you will be on this one too.

I've had several friends adopt babies. It is really hard to know how to talk to them! Seriously - even though I struggled with infertility for 7 years before my first baby was born - there seems to be this invisible divider between "us" with normal pregancies and "them" who can't (or don't). Does that make sense? Anyway, I'd love it if you'd write about the right and wrong things to say. For example, one friend called the long adoption process "her pregnancy". One day when I asked how her "pregancy" was going (this was before I had kids and in the horrible infertility time) she snarled and me and snipped "how's yours?" totally sarcastically. Took me by surprise.

You are so talented at writing, I'm sure you could make our etiquette lessons very entertaining...

Great idea, I'll work on it. On a side note, it sounds like your friend had not fully processed her grief over not being able to conceive. If having biological children is very important to you, you have to allow yourself to mourn that loss. Only then can you open yourself to the joy of this other road to parenthood. Adoption should be a positive process not a last resort to an infertility problem.

Yeah!!! Congratulations - early I guess! But congrats on beginning the process! I'm really happy for you. Of course there is no way another baby can replace Lillian, but each child is such a blessing in themselves. We have 3 blessings and we could never "replace" any of them! They are each precious.

I'll be praying that the process goes well and quickly! (Yeah, right, huh?)

Love,

Lisa
